Chapter 1 - 威尼托、特雷維索、奧德爾佐 Veneto, Treviso, Oderzo

在學期間,每逢周末我喜歡旅行。但我不知道為什麼,我從到過威尼托大區。這是一個美麗的命運把我帶到那裡,住在那裡,並了解其中的神奇之處。儘管,它仍然不是我最喜歡的義大利地區,但我還是喜歡它。

威尼託大區位於義大利的東北側,是義大利總面積第八大的地區。它的東北面是弗留利-威尼斯朱利亞(Friuli-Venezia Giulia),西北面是特倫蒂諾—上阿迪傑(Trentino-Alto Adige),西面是倫巴第(Lombardia),南面是艾米利亞—羅馬涅(Emilia-Romagna),東面是亞得里亞海。威尼託的南北延伸距離從奧地利邊界一路到波河(fiume Po)共約210公里。

威尼托大區(Veneto)約29%被山脈覆蓋,如多洛米蒂山脈(Le Dolomiti)和威尼斯前阿爾卑斯山脈(Prealpi Venete)等。57%的地區是波河沖積平原(Po Valley),從山脈延伸到大海。最後的14%是丘陵,也是威尼托地區高品質葡萄酒的產區。威尼托(Veneto)因為擁有平坦的土地,孕育了最美好的蔬果和穀物。 因為擁有山區,您也可以期待在他們飲食文化中的野味。因為擁有大海和潟湖,更具備了豐富的海鮮和貿易文化。

威尼托是意大利最富有的地區之一。由於其歷史悠久的建築和文化,它在遊客中是著名的。而且,它同時也是在義大利地區中,最愛喝酒的大區。我認真看到一些人在清晨時,就在喝開胃酒(spritz)或普羅塞克氣泡酒(Prosecco)。

威尼托大區有七個省:貝盧諾(Belluno)、特雷維索(Treviso)、威尼斯(Venezia)、帕多瓦(Padova)、羅維戈(Rovigo)、維羅納(Verona)和維琴察(Vicenza)。我在特雷維索省的奧德爾佐(Oderzo)實習。特雷維索(Treviso)是一個擁有大量羅馬遺蹟的省,後來在歷史上與威尼斯共和國息息相關。它主要被平坦的土地所覆蓋,有一些河流經過,其中最大也是最重要的河流是皮亞韋河(fiume Piave)。這為普羅塞克氣泡酒莊和我一生中嘗試過的最美味的蔬菜「Radicchio Rosso di Treviso IGP 特雷維索紅菊苣」提供了廣闊的環境。而西北部的特雷維索邊界與一些丘陵和山脈相連,美麗的歷史名城阿索羅(Asolo)便屹立於此。

在奧德爾佐(Oderzo)待了三個月,對我來說是一種特殊的經歷。 距特雷維索中心約有四十五分鐘車程,是一座擁有許多工廠和一個優雅的歷史廣場的城市。我知道我已經使用過「歷史性」這個詞很多次了,但是在特雷維索省的所有城市中,奧德爾佐無疑最有資格。直到今天,奧德爾佐仍保留著羅馬帝國時期和中世紀的幾座考古遺址。

Chapter 1 - Veneto, Treviso, Oderzo

During the phase of school, in the weekend I always loved to travel around. But I don’t know why, I never went to Veneto region before I started my stage. It was a beautiful destiny to bring me there, to live there, to know the amazing part of it. Still, it is not my favorite region of Italy, but I love it anyway.

Veneto region is on the Northeast side of Italy, the 8th largest region in Italy. It is surrounded by Friuli-Venezia Giulia from the northeast side, Trentino-Alto Adige from the northwest, Lombardia from the west, Emilia-Romagna from the south and face to the Adriatic Sea on the east. The north-south extension of Veneto is 210km from the Austrian border to the end of river Po.

Around 29% of Veneto is covered by mountains like the Dolomites and Venetian Prealps. 57% of region is covered by the Po Valley extends from the mountain to the sea. The last 14% are hills with some outstanding wine production In Veneto area.  With the flat land, Veneto has some of the most amazing vegetables and grains products. With the mountains, you can expect some game meat in their food culture. With the sea and lagoon, it has rich culture with seafood and trading.

Veneto is one of the richest region of Italy. It is famous among tourists due to the historic buildings and culture. And, it is also one of the most wine consuming region of all. I seriously saw some people drinking spritzs or prosecco in the early morning.

There are 7 provinces in Veneto: Belluno, Treviso, Venezia, Padova, Rovigo, Verona and Vicenza. I had my stage in Oderzo, province of Treviso. Treviso is a province with lots of Roman remains, and later historically links with Venetian Republic. It is mainly covered by flat land with some rivers pass by, in which the largest and most important river is River Piave. This provides a large environment for prosecco vineyards and some of the most wonderful vegetables I’ve ever tried in my life like “Radicchio Rosso di Treviso IGP”. On the border of Treviso province, the northwestern part, links to some hills and mountains, where the beautiful historical city Asolo stands.

Spending three months in Oderzo was a special experience for me. It’s about 45 minutes by cars to the center of Treviso, and it’s a city with a lots of factories and a tiny elegant historical plaza. I know I ‘ve been using this word “historical” for so many times, yet among all the cities in Treviso province, Oderzo definitely earns its name. Till today, Oderzo still remains several archeological ruins from the Roman Empire time and the Middle Age.

The series "Follow me to Treviso / Vieni in Treviso con me" is the full text of my final graduation project at the ALMA La Scuola Internazionale di Cucina Italiana. According to school requirements, international graduates must conduct in-depth research on the food culture of the internship area (geography, history, terroir, ingredients, recipes, etc.), complete a written report in English, supplemented by Italian, and then pass an oral interview at the end of the term, as well as complete additional menu design topic, can be graduated. 

The original manuscript language of this series was English, and it was translated into Chinese with translation software and then embellished. I will intersperse some photos in the middle of the article, with my current thoughts and some basic knowledge supplements, so that everyone can read better!
